Courvoisier Cognac

Courvoisier is one of the four leading cognac houses in the world, renowned for its heritage and craftsmanship in the Jarnac region of France. Established in the early 19th century by Emmanuel Courvoisier and Louis Gallois, the brand gained significant fame when it was visited by and subsequently associated with Napoleon Bonaparte, leading to its unofficial title as the Cognac of Napoleon.

The production of Courvoisier is strictly rooted in the Charente region of France, where it undergoes a meticulous double-distillation process in copper pot stills and aging in French oak barrels. This geographic specificity is mandated by its status as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) product, ensuring that every bottle is authentically French.

Ownership of the house has transitioned through several major global spirits groups over the decades. Having been a cornerstone of the Beam Suntory portfolio for many years, Courvoisier was acquired by the Campari Group (Davide Campari-Milano N.V.) in 2024. This acquisition represents one of the largest deals in the history of the Italian group, placing the historic French brand under Italian corporate leadership while maintaining its traditional manufacturing base in France.
