The brand Scan is deep-rooted in Swedish agricultural history, originally operating as a cooperative for Swedish farmers. Today, the manufacturing remains primarily focused in Sweden, specifically at facilities such as the one in Skara, ensuring that the meat used meets strict local standards.

Ownership of the Scan brand has transitioned over the years. It is currently owned by HKScan, a major Nordic food company. In 2024, Lantmännen, a Swedish agricultural cooperative owned by 18,000 Swedish farmers, signed an agreement to acquire HKScan's Swedish operations, effectively bringing the brand back under fully Swedish farm-based ownership.
