Buitoni is a historic brand originally established in 1827 in Sansepolcro, Italy, by Giulia Buitoni. For nearly two centuries, it has been synonymous with Italian pasta and culinary traditions. While the brand has global recognition, its ownership structure changed significantly in recent years. Historically owned by Nestlé, the chilled dough business in Europe, which includes products like this empanada dough found in Spain, was sold to the Berylls Group, a subsidiary of the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners.

Today, the Buitoni chilled dough products sold in the Spanish market are typically manufactured in Spain, specifically at the factory located in Miajadas (Cáceres). This ensures fresh distribution and alignment with local preferences, such as the 'Argentine Style' thick crust dough shown in the image, which is designed for convenience in both ovens and air fryers. Although the brand's heart remains Italian, its current industrial and commercial operations for this product category are headquartered in France under the CVC-owned entity, Cerelia.
