HBO (Home Box Office) streaming and television services

HBO (Home Box Office) is a premier American pay television network and streaming service that redefined the television landscape with high-quality original programming and cinema. Launched in 1972 by Sterling Communications and later Charles Dolan and Time Inc., it became the first nationally distributed cable channel in the United States.

Over the decades, HBO has undergone several high-profile corporate ownership changes. Following the merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications, it became part of Time Warner. In 2018, AT&T acquired the parent company, rebranding it as WarnerMedia. Most recently, in 2022, WarnerMedia spun off and merged with Discovery, Inc. to form the current parent organization, Warner Bros. Discovery.

While the service's content production and headquarters are rooted in the United States, HBO and its Max streaming platform have a significant global presence, with regional subsidiaries and localized content hubs managed by Warner Bros. Discovery across Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
