Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Fast Food

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was founded in 1972 by Al Copeland in Arabi, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. Originally named 'Chicken on the Run', it was quickly rebranded to Popeyes. Known for its spicy New Orleans-style fried chicken and biscuits, the brand became a global cultural phenomenon following the release of its signature chicken sandwich in 2019.

Today, Popeyes is and will continue to be a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), a multinational fast-food holding company. While the brand originated in the United States, its manufacturing (supply chain and ingredient sourcing) occurs in multiple countries to support its thousands of locations worldwide. The ultimate ownership lies with a Canadian-American conglomerate that also oversees other major global chains like Burger King and Tim Hortons.
