Maggi Seasoning (Maggi Würze)

Maggi Seasoning, often known as Maggi Würze in German-speaking regions, is an iconic dark, liquid seasoning sauce that has been a staple in kitchens for over a century. Developed by Julius Maggi in Switzerland in the late 19th century, it was originally designed to provide nutritious, protein-rich, and affordable plant-based alternatives to meat-based broths for industrial workers.

Today, Maggi is one of the world's most recognized culinary brands. While its roots are deep in Swiss and German history, its ownership shifted when the brand was acquired by the Swiss multinational Nestlé in 1947. Production now takes place in several factories worldwide to meet regional tastes and logistics; for example, the European market is primarily served by the factory in Singen, Germany, while other versions are manufactured in various locations across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
