The Philips Fabric Shaver (GC026 series) is a popular household maintenance tool designed to remove lint and pills from clothing and furniture. Although the Philips brand is fundamentally Dutch, having been founded in Eindhoven in 1891, the manufacturing of its small household appliances is now primarily centralized in China to leverage global supply chain efficiencies.
Historically, Philips was a massive conglomerate producing everything from lightbulbs to healthcare equipment. In 2021, the company underwent a major shift by selling its Domestic Appliances business to Hillhouse Investment, a global private equity firm. This division now operates under the name Versuni, though it continues to license the Philips brand name for its products. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, the brand remains under the ultimate ownership of this investment structure while Philips itself focuses on health technology.
