Originally developed by Pan Britannica Industries (PBI) in the United Kingdom, the brand became famous for its concentrated liquid plant food sold in a distinctive bottle reminiscent of vintage perfume flacons. Its popularity in the UK was significantly bolstered by its association with the 'Expert' series of gardening books by Dr. D.G. Hessayon.

In recent years, the brand transitioned through major corporate ownerships. It was acquired by Bayer as part of their garden care portfolio before being sold to SBM Life Science in 2016. SBM Life Science, a French family-owned company, now manages the brand's global presence.
