Bister is a historic Belgian condiment producer renowned for its high-quality mustards and sauces. Founded in 1926 by Franz Bister, the company gained fame for its 'Moutarde l'Impériale' and distinctive faceted glass jars. While maintaining its traditional roots in Namur, Belgium, the brand has become a staple in Belgian households and international markets.

In early 2024, Bister was acquired by the Dutch company Van Geloven, which is a subsidiary of the Canadian multinational frozen food giant McCain Foods. Despite the change in ownership, the manufacturing of Bister mustards remains concentrated in Belgium to preserve the authenticity and heritage of the original recipes.
