LU Prince Original is an iconic brand of sandwich biscuits featuring two round, golden-baked cookies with a smooth cocoa-flavored cream filling. The brand's history is rooted in the late 19th century, specifically 1894, when Belgian baker and chocolatier Edward De Beukelaer created the biscuit in Antwerp to honor the visiting King Leopold II of Belgium. The 'Prince' character on the packaging became a central part of the brand's identity, symbolizing the royal heritage associated with its creation.

Over the decades, the brand became a staple in Western European households, particularly in Belgium and France. In 1980, the company General Biscuits, which then owned the Prince brand, was acquired by the prominent French biscuit manufacturer LU (Lefèvre-Utile). This merger solidified the brand's presence across Europe. Ownership changed hands again in 2007 when the American multinational Kraft Foods acquired Danone's biscuit division, which included LU. Following the corporate split of Kraft Foods in 2012, the brand became part of Mondelēz International.

Today, Prince biscuits are a leading brand in the Mondelēz portfolio. While they are a global snack, production is heavily concentrated in Europe. The primary manufacturing facility is located in Herentals, Belgium—historically significant as one of the largest biscuit factories in the world—though the product is also manufactured in other European locations like France to serve regional markets.
