Brand History and Origin

Nestlé is a global household name that trace its roots back to 1866. The brand was founded in Vevey, Switzerland, by Henri Nestlé, a German-born pharmacist. Henri famously developed the first 'farine lactée' (milk cereal) to tackle infant mortality. Around the same time, brothers George and Charles Page established the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. The two entities merged in 1905 to form what is now known as the Nestlé Group.

Logo and Identity

The iconic logo, featuring a bird in a nest feeding two chicks, is based on Henri Nestlé's family coat of arms (as 'Nestle' means 'little nest' in German). Over more than 150 years, the logo has evolved from a detailed illustration to a simplified, modern mark suitable for digital screens, while maintaining its core message of nurturing and care.

Ownership and Global Presence

As of 2026, Nestlé S.A. remains the world's largest food and beverage company.
