Ignis is a historic Italian brand of household appliances founded in 1943 by Giovanni Borghi. Originally based in Comerio, Italy, the brand became a major player in the European market for refrigerators and washing machines. Over the years, ownership has shifted through several major corporations.
After being a part of the Philips group in the 1970s, Ignis was later acquired by Whirlpool Corporation. Starting in 2024 and continuing into 2026, the brand's European operations are managed under Beko Europe, a joint venture formed between Arçelik and Whirlpool to consolidate their appliance businesses in the EMEA region. Manufacturing is distributed across various European and global factories depending on the specific model, though the brand retains its strong Italian cultural identity.
