Hotpoint Ariston represents a fusion of two historic appliance brands with deep roots in Europe. Hotpoint was originally founded in the United States in 1911 and later became a staple of the British household market, while Ariston was established by Aristide Merloni in Italy in 1930. The brand 'Hotpoint Ariston' was born following the acquisition of Hotpoint by Indesit Company (originally Merloni Elettrodomestici) in the early 21st century.
Manufacturing for the brand takes place in various locations across Europe and Asia, including major facilities in Italy, Poland, Turkey, and China. In 2014, Whirlpool Corporation acquired a majority stake in Indesit, thereby taking control of the Hotpoint Ariston brand. More recently, Whirlpool contributed its European, Middle Eastern, and African business interests—including the Hotpoint Ariston brand—into a new joint venture with Arçelik A.Ş., resulting in the formation of Beko Europe. Beko Europe now oversees the brand's production and distribution as the primary operating entity.
