Vips

Vips is a prominent casual dining restaurant chain that originated in Mexico City in 1964. Founded by the Arango brothers (Jerónimo, Plácido, and Manuel), it was initially part of the Aurrerá retail group. The brand became an iconic fixture of Mexican urban culture, known for its diverse menu and accessible atmosphere.

In 2014, Walmart de México y Centroamérica sold the Vips chain to Alsea, a leading multi-brand restaurant operator based in Mexico. Under Alsea's ownership, the brand has undergone modernization across its numerous locations. While the flagship brand remains centered in Mexico, the brand name was also historically established in Spain (now owned by Alsea as well after the acquisition of Grupo Vips), making it a significant international presence in the Hispanic dining market.
