Parmalat Zymil lactose-free milk

Parmalat Zymil is a specialized line of lactose-free dairy products developed by the Italian multinational food group Parmalat. Originally founded in Collecchio, Italy, by Calisto Tanzi in 1961, Parmalat grew into one of the world's leading dairy producers before undergoing a major restructuring in the early 2000s.

The Zymil brand specifically targets consumers with lactose intolerance or high digestibility needs. While Parmalat operates globally, the products sold under this branding in Europe are primarily manufactured within Italy using local milk sources.

In 2011, the French dairy giant Lactalis acquired a controlling interest in Parmalat. As of 2026, Parmalat remains a core subsidiary of the Groupe Lactalis, which is the largest dairy products group in the world. This ownership has allowed Zymil and other Parmalat brands to leverage a massive global distribution network while maintaining their Italian heritage and production standards.
