Toblerone Milk Chocolate

Toblerone is one of the world's most recognizable chocolate brands, famous for its unique triangular shape and distinctive packaging. The brand was created in 1908 by Theodor Tobler in Bern, Switzerland. Its name is a play on the founder's surname and 'Torrone', the Italian word for honey and almond nougat, which remains a core ingredient of the milk chocolate bar today.

While the brand was historically manufactured exclusively in Bern, ownership changes led to shifts in production. After being acquired by various entities throughout the 20th century, it became part of Kraft Foods, which eventually spun off its snack division into Mondelēz International. To comply with 'Swissness' legislation—which requires products using Swiss national symbols to be manufactured within the country—Mondelēz moved a portion of production to Bratislava, Slovakia, and subsequently updated the packaging to remove the Matterhorn mountain and the 'Swiss Made' label.
