Café Fortaleza is a historic Spanish coffee brand founded in 1885 in Bilbao by the Crespo family. For over a century, it remained a family-owned business deeply rooted in the Basque Country. In the early 21st century, the brand underwent a series of ownership changes. First, it was acquired by the Italian group Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group (owner of Segafredo Zanetti). Later, the Swiss-based conglomerate JDE Peet's assumed control. Today, Café Fortaleza is a prominent name in the Spanish coffee market, specializing in ground, grain, and soluble coffee varieties, with its main manufacturing operations tied to the Spanish market through JDE Peet's extensive European distribution network.
