7UP is a world-renowned brand of lemon-lime flavored non-caffeinated soft drinks. The brand was originally created by Charles Leiper Grigg, who launched his company, The Howdy Corporation, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 1929. Initially called "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda," the name was later shortened to 7UP.
Today, the brand's ownership is split geographically. In the United States, it is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper. However, for all international markets outside of the US, including the Netherlands, the brand is owned and distributed by PepsiCo. This dual-ownership structure means that while the brand's heritage is American, its global footprint is managed by two distinct beverage giants. Manufacturing occurs in numerous countries worldwide through local bottling partners like Vrumona in the Netherlands to ensure regional availability.
