Blizzard Entertainment is a premier American video game developer and publisher based in Irvine, California. Founded in 1991 as Silicon & Synapse, the company rose to global prominence with the release of legendary franchises such as Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. It is widely recognized for its high production quality and its Battle.net digital distribution platform.

Over the decades, the company underwent several ownership changes, most notably merging with Activision in 2008 to form Activision Blizzard.
