Bayreuther Hell

Bayreuther Hell is a classic Bavarian Helles lager known for its pale golden color and mild, malty flavor. It is produced by the Bayreuther Bierbrauerei AG, a brewery with historical roots dating back to 1857 in the town of Bayreuth, Franconia. The brewery was originally established by Hugo Bayerlein and later transformed into a joint-stock company (Aktienbrauerei) in 1872.

Since 1965, the brewery has been majority-owned by the Maisel brewing family, which also operates the neighboring Brauerei Gebr. Maisel. Despite this close relationship and a shared production site, Bayreuther Bierbrauerei AG maintains its independent brand identity. As of 2026, the brewery continues to focus on traditional bottom-fermented beers, emphasizing regional heritage and quality under the ultimate family leadership of Jeff Maisel.
