BERNINA is a premium Swiss brand renowned for its high-quality sewing and embroidery systems. Founded in Steckborn, Switzerland, in 1893 by Karl Friedrich Gegauf, the company invented the first hemstitch sewing machine. This legacy of 'Swiss Engineering' remains a core part of the brand's identity.

While the company continues to manufacture its high-end machines and longarm systems at its headquarters in Steckborn, Switzerland, the majority of its mid-range and entry-level machines are produced in its own factory in Lamphun, Thailand. BERNINA is one of the few sewing machine manufacturers that still produces its own products in its own facilities rather than outsourcing to third-party factories.

The brand remains a family-owned enterprise, currently under the leadership of the fourth generation of the Ueltschi family. Their commitment to precision and innovation has kept them at the top of the textile-crafting industry for over a century.
