Sony PlayStation console

PlayStation is a world-renowned video game brand produced by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The brand was first introduced in December 1994 in Japan with the launch of the original PlayStation console. It was the brainchild of Ken Kutaragi, a Sony executive who is often referred to as 'The Father of the PlayStation'.

Manufacturing of PlayStation consoles primarily takes place in China through major electronics contractors like Foxconn and Maintek, though some high-end production and specialized components are still manufactured in Japan, particularly at Sony's Kisarazu Plant.

Today, the brand is owned by Sony Group Corporation, a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the subsidiary responsible for the PlayStation lineup, manages everything from hardware development to the PlayStation Network and first-party software studios.
