Liptov Oštiepok cheese

Liptov Oštiepok is a traditional Slovak steamed cheese produced by the Liptovská mliekareň dairy. The brand is deeply rooted in the Liptov region of Slovakia, known for its long-standing mountain sheep farming and cheese-making traditions. The product uses mountain milk and traditional smoking techniques to achieve its characteristic flavor and shape.

While the brand is a staple of Slovak national heritage, it is currently owned by the French multinational group Savencia Fromage & Dairy (formerly Soparind Bongrain). The manufacturing process remains concentrated in Slovakia at the Liptovský Mikuláš facility to maintain the authentic quality associated with its Protected Geographical Indication status for certain traditional varieties.
