It is produced by Botter S.p.A., a major Italian winemaker founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter. The wine is specifically crafted in the Salento area, known for its limestone-rich soil and ancient viticulture traditions.

The brand has grown from a local distributor to an international powerhouse under the stewardship of the Botter family. In 2021, the company was acquired by Clessidra Private Equity, which subsequently merged it with Mondo del Vino to form the Argea Group. Argea is currently one of the largest private wine groups in Italy, maintaining a global presence while rooting its production in traditional Italian wine regions.
