Kwatta Chocolate

Kwatta is a historic chocolate brand with deep roots in the Benelux region, particularly known for its chocolate spreads and bars. The brand was founded in 1883 in Breda, Netherlands, by Gustaaf van Emden and quickly became a staple in European households, famously supplying Belgian and Dutch soldiers with chocolate rations during the early 20th century.

Over the decades, the brand's production and ownership shifted significantly. While it started in the Netherlands, its primary association moved toward Belgium due to its manufacturing facilities and cultural standing as a 'Belgian' chocolate staple. The Kwatta factory in Bois-d'Haine, Belgium, was a cornerstone of its operations for many years.

Today, Kwatta is owned by the American multinational Heinz (Kraft Heinz), which acquired the brand through various mergers and acquisitions involving the former CSM and Leaf Holland companies. While the brand retains its local identity in the Belgian market, it is managed as part of a global portfolio of food products under the Kraft Heinz umbrella.
