Aussie is a hair care brand that was founded in 1979 by Tom Redmond an American businessman. After traveling to Australia, Redmond was inspired by its diverse range of native ingredients, such as Blue Cypress, Australian Macadamia nut oil, and Gum Tree. Despite its strong Australian branding and name, the brand was actually born in the United States and has never been an Australian-owned company.

The global success of the brand led to its acquisition by the American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 2003. Currently, Aussie products are manufactured in several locations worldwide, including the United States and Europe (particularly France and the UK), depending on the regional market distribution. While it maintains an aesthetic deeply linked to the Australian culture, it operates as a major international label under P&G's extensive beauty portfolio.
