Passoã is a world-renowned passion fruit liqueur that was first created in 1986. The brand's origin story began when a master distiller from Cointreau traveled to Brazil in search of a specific variety of orange, but instead discovered the intense and unique flavor of local passion fruits. This discovery led to the development of the iconic liqueur known for its vibrant red color and distinctive black bottle.

Originally part of the Rémy Cointreau portfolio, the brand underwent a significant ownership change. In 2016, Lucas Bols and Rémy Cointreau formed a joint venture to operate the brand, with Lucas Bols taking full control and ownership of Passoã in December 2020. This move integrated the brand into one of the oldest Dutch spirits companies, though manufacturing remains primarily centered in France to maintain the liqueur's traditional production standards. In turn, Lucas Bols was acquired by the Nolet Group in early 2024, placing Passoã under the stewardship of one of the most prestigious family-owned distillery groups in the Netherlands.

Passoã Festa is a specific variant of the core brand, often tailored for lighter consumption with a slightly lower alcohol content while retaining the signature natural passion fruit flavor profile. Today, Passoã remains a staple in cocktail culture, most notably as the key ingredient in the popular Porn Star Martini cocktail.
