Pepsodent is an iconic brand of toothpaste with a history dating back to its founding in the United States in 1915 by the Pepsodent Company of Chicago. The brand became famous for its use of Irium as a cleaning agent. Over the decades, ownership shifted; while it was originally an American invention, the international rights were acquired by the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever.
Today, Pepsodent is owned by Unilever globally, although in the United States and Canada, the brand was divested to Church & Dwight in 2003. In Northern European markets like Sweden, the brand remains under Unilever's portfolio. Manufacturing occurs in multiple locations across Europe and Asia to supply various regional markets, adhering to Unilever's global production standards.
