Levi Strauss & Co. is a quintessential American brand, founded in 1853 in San Francisco by German immigrant Levi Strauss. The brand revolutionized the apparel industry in 1873 when Strauss and tailor Jacob Davis received a patent for copper-riveted work pants, effectively creating the first pair of blue jeans.

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in the United States, its manufacturing footprint has shifted globally over the decades. Following the closure of its final major U.S. factory in 2003, production was relocated to a vast network of international facilities. Today, Levi's products are manufactured in countries such as China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Mexico, and Sri Lanka to serve global demand efficiently.

Levi Strauss & Co. remains a publicly traded company (NYSE: LEVI) but continues to be largely controlled by the descendants of the founder’s family through the Haas family. The company operates globally across three geographic divisions: Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.
