TRESemmé is a specialized hair care brand that originated in 1947. Initially launched by the Godefroy Manufacturing Company in Missouri, USA, it was named after the renowned hair care expert Edna L. Emme. The brand was originally designed for salon use only and marketed under the slogan 'Used by Professionals'.

In 1968, the brand was acquired by Alberto-Culver, which expanded its availability to the retail market. Following a major industry shift in 2010, the consumer goods giant Unilever acquired Alberto-Culver, bringing TRESemmé into its global portfolio. Today, TRESemmé products like the Keratin Smooth (Liso Keratina) line are manufactured in various facilities globally to meet regional demand, including sites in the United Kingdom, United States, and continental Europe.
