Schweppes is one of the world's oldest beverage brands, originating in 1783 when German-Genevan scientist Jacob Schweppe developed a process to manufacture carbonated mineral water. Based in Geneva before moving to London, the brand revolutionized the beverage industry with its invention of the modern soda water.

Today, the ownership and manufacturing of Schweppes are highly fragmented by region. In the United States, it is owned and operated by Keurig Dr Pepper. In the United Kingdom, many European countries, and parts of Africa, the brand is owned by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners or The Coca-Cola Company. In Australia and other specific markets, ownership falls under Asahi Group Holdings. Consequently, the products are manufactured in dozens of countries worldwide by their respective regional owners, maintaining its status as a global leader in tonic water and ginger ale.
