DVS Shoes, originally known as DVS Shoe Company, is an American footwear and apparel brand founded in 1995. The brand was established by Tim Gavin, Brian Dunlap, Kevin Dunlap, and Jay S. Losi in Torrance, California, with a primary focus on the skateboarding and extreme sports markets. It quickly rose to prominence in the skate industry through athlete endorsements and high-performance sneaker designs.
While the brand was born in the United States, its manufacturing processes are distributed globally, primarily across factories in Asia, including Vietnam and China, to manage large-scale production requirements. This is typical for international athletic footwear brands.
In 2012, after facing financial challenges, DVS Shoe Company was acquired by Sequential Brands Group (based in New York). However, in current operations, the brand is managed under the umbrella of Elan Polo International, a global footwear management company that acquired several assets and licensing rights. Today, DVS remains a staple in the action sports community, continuing its legacy of producing durable skate shoes under its international ownership structure.
