Bio-tex is a historic brand of laundry detergent that gained fame for being one of the first to utilize biological enzymes to break down organic stains. Originally developed in the Netherlands in 1963 by the company Kortman & Schulte, the brand name itself is a portmanteau referencing its biological action ('Bio') and its use on textiles ('tex'). Over the decades, the brand became a household name across Scandinavia and the Benelux regions, known particularly for its effective stain removal and its long-standing marketing philosophy that 'dirt is good' (Snavs er godt).

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major corporate hands as the consumer goods industry consolidated. It was part of the AKZO portfolio and later owned by Sara Lee before being acquired by Unilever in 2009. Today, Bio-tex is a key part of Unilever's home care portfolio. While its roots are Dutch and Danish, the product is manufactured in various facilities across Europe to serve its core markets in Northern and Western Europe.
