Smart Export cigarettes

Smart Export is a well-known Austrian cigarette brand that has deep roots in the local tobacco history. Originally launched by the Austrian state monopoly Austria Tabak, the brand became a staple in the DACH region, particularly favored in the Austrian market. Its distinctive 'Export' character and packaging have made it a recognizable icon for decades.

Following the privatization and eventual sale of Austria Tabak in the early 2000s, the brand and its production facilities passed through several hands. Today, Smart Export is owned by the Japanese multinational tobacco manufacturer, Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT), following their acquisition of Gallaher Group and the subsequent integration of the Austrian assets. While it is a global company, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) maintains a significant production presence in Austria for regional brands, ensuring that Smart Export remains tied to its country of origin through local manufacturing and distribution.
