Morrisons is a major British supermarket chain that traces its roots back to 1899 when William Morrison opened an egg and butter stall in Bradford, England. It differentiates itself from many competitors by being a vertically integrated retailer, meaning it processes much of its own fresh food, including meat and fish, through its own manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom.

Historically a family-run business, Morrisons expanded significantly in the early 2000s through the acquisition of Safeway. In 2021, the company underwent a major ownership change when it was acquired by the American private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R). Under its current ownership, Morrisons continues to operate as one of the 'Big Four' supermarket chains in the UK, focusing on its market-street style fresh food concept and its extensive network of manufacturing sites that supply its private-label products.
