Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Half Lace cup and saucer

Royal Copenhagen is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious porcelain brands, founded in 1775 under the protection of Queen Juliane Marie. The icon pattern shown, Blue Fluted Half Lace (Musselmalet Halvblonde), is a cornerstone of Danish design heritage. While the brand originated and historically produced all pieces in Denmark, specifically at the factory in Frederiksberg, production was moved to Thailand in the early 21st century to maintain the labor-intensive hand-painting process while managing costs. Today, most new items are hand-painted by skilled artisans in Thailand, though the design remains fundamentally Danish.

The brand has undergone several ownership changes in recent history. Formerly part of the Royal Scandinavia group, it was acquired by the Finnish company Fiskars in 2013. Fiskars, a global leader in home products known for its orange-handled scissors, remains the ultimate owner and maintains the brand's headquarters in Glostrup, Denmark.
