HAK is one of the most iconic vegetable brands in the Netherlands, established in 1952 by the Hak family in Giessen. The company is renowned for its glass packaging, which serves as a mark of transparency and quality for its preserved legumes and vegetables. The 'Veldertjes' (young marrowfat peas/kapucijners) are a staple of Dutch cuisine, traditionally sourced from local Dutch soil whenever the harvest allows.

Historically a family-run business, HAK evolved through various ownership structures before being acquired by the Russian investment group PM Proinvest in 2021. However, the brand maintains its headquarters and primary production facilities in Giessen, North Brabant, continuing to operate as a distinctly Dutch entity in its branding and market presence. The company focuses heavily on sustainable agriculture and reducing its environmental footprint by sourcing over 85% of its ingredients within a 125-kilometer radius of its factory.
