Ray-Ban eyewear case

Ray-Ban is a premium brand of sunglasses and eyeglasses created in 1937 by the American company Bausch & Lomb. The brand is best known for its Wayfarer and Aviator lines of sunglasses. Originally developed for military use, specifically for U.S. Army Air Corps pilots to reduce glare while flying, the brand transitioned into a global fashion icon in the mid-20th century.

In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian eyewear giant Luxottica Group for $640 million. Today, the brand is part of the EssilorLuxottica portfolio, which was formed through a massive merger in 2018. While the brand has American roots, its design and strategic headquarters are now centered in Italy. Manufacturing takes place globally, with high-end models typically produced in Italy and other lines manufactured in specialized facilities in China.
