Schweppes is a historic beverage brand with a global footprint, renowned for its carbonated waters and mixers. The brand's origin dates back to 1783 when Johann Jacob Schweppe developed a process to manufacture carbonated mineral water in Geneva, Switzerland. The business later moved to London, England, where it gained significant prominence.
Today, the ownership structure of Schweppes is geographically fragmented. In most of Europe, the brand is owned by the Suntory Group (specifically Suntory Beverage & Food Europe). In North America, the brand is owned and operated by Keurig Dr Pepper. In many other global markets, including parts of Africa and Asia, The Coca-Cola Company holds the rights to the brand.
Manufacturing typically occurs locally in each region through the various bottling networks associated with the regional license holders. For example, Schweppes products in the UK are manufactured by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, while in France they fall under the Suntory umbrella.
