The Philips Somneo Wake-up Light is a premium therapy lamp designed to simulate natural sunrise and sunset to improve sleep and waking cycles. Originally developed by the Dutch conglomerate Philips, the brand has a rich history dating back to 1891 in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Starting in 2021, the Philips Domestic Appliances division, which manages products like the Wake-up Light, was sold to Hillhouse Investment and rebranded as Versuni. While the Philips name remains on the product under a long-term licensing agreement, the ultimate ownership lies with this global investment firm headquartered in Amsterdam. Most manufacturing for these consumer electronics takes place in specialized facilities in China to ensure global distribution efficiency.
