Ownership of the F.A.Z. is uniquely structured to ensure journalistic independence. It is owned by the FAZIT-STIFTUNG (Fazit Foundation), a non-profit organization established in 1959. This structure prevents the publication from being controlled by any single private investor or corporate conglomerate, maintaining its editorial autonomy. The FAZIT-STIFTUNG also holds a majority stake in the publishing house, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung GmbH.
