Branston Pickle, including the pictured Piccalilli, is a quintessential British food brand widely known as the 'Home of the Original Pickle.' The brand first appeared in 1922 in the village of Branston, Staffordshire, and has since become a staple in British pantries and a key ingredient in traditional ploughman's lunches.
The Branston brand has seen several ownership changes throughout its history. Originally created by Crosse & Blackwell, it was later acquired by Nestlé and then by Premier Foods in 2002. In 2013, the brand was sold to the Japanese food multinational Mizkan, which relocated production to its current facility in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Today, Branston continues to be manufactured in the UK, maintaining its status as a local favorite while under international ownership.
