AEG is a historic brand with a legacy dating back to its founding in Germany in 1883 by Emil Rathenau. Originally known as Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft, it grew to become a global leader in electrical engineering and home appliances.

Starting in 2005, the brand name was fully acquired by the Swedish multinational Electrolux. While the brand carries its German heritage and designs are often conceptualized in Sweden, the actual manufacturing of many small appliances, as indicated on the product label, takes place in China.
