Mentos mints and gum

Mentos is a world-renowned brand of scotch mints and chewing gum, first introduced in 1932 by the Van Melle brothers in the Netherlands. The product initially launched as a peppermint-flavored caramel candy and has since evolved into a diverse line of chewy dragées and gums.

Today, the brand is owned by the Italian-Dutch global confectionery giant Perfetti Van Melle, formed by a 2001 merger. While the brand has deep Dutch roots, its manufacturing is highly globalized to serve over 150 countries. Production facilities are located in the Netherlands (Breda, Weert, and Sittard), as well as in Italy, Brazil, China, India, Turkey, and the United States, among others. Mentos became a cultural icon in the 1990s through its 'The Freshmaker' advertising campaign and later gained viral internet fame for the 'Mentos and Diet Coke' physical reaction.
