HAK is a prominent Dutch food brand with a history dating back to the 1920s in Giessen, North Brabant, where it began as a family grocery business. The brand officially launched its food production line in 1952, eventually becoming a household name in the Benelux region for preserved vegetables and legumes. Traditionally known for its glass-jar packaging, HAK has expanded into modern formats like the stand-up pouch shown in the image.

The product is manufactured in the Netherlands, specifically at HAK's facility in Giessen. The company maintains a strong commitment to local sourcing, with approximately 85% of its vegetables grown within a 125-kilometer radius of its factory. This focus on local Dutch agriculture is a core part of its "Green Kitchen" philosophy.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned several times over the decades. Originally a family-owned entity, it was part of the Heinz empire before being sold to the private equity firm NPM Capital in 2005. In 2021, HAK was acquired by the KDV Group. As of late 2022 and moving into 2026, the brand is owned by Flexway, an international food organization based in the United Arab Emirates. Despite the foreign ultimate ownership, HAK continues to operate autonomously with its management and production based in the Netherlands.
