Meggle Fine Butter is a high-quality sweet cream butter produced by the MEGGLE Group. The product shown in the image is a standard 250g block, a format the company has been producing since the 1930s. The packaging identifies the production site in Wasserburg am Inn, Upper Bavaria, which remains the company's central manufacturing hub.
Founded in 1887 by Josef Anton Meggle I, the brand has grown from a local Bavarian cheese dairy into an international dairy specialist. It gained significant fame in 1960 as the official butter supplier for the International Eucharistic Congress, during which it pioneered the 'portion butter' category. Today, it is recognized globally for its butter specialties, including herb and garlic butters.
The MEGGLE Group is characterized by its long-term stability and independence. In 2019, the long-standing owner Toni Meggle transferred his shares to the Toni Meggle Foundation to ensure the company remains a private, medium-sized entity that cannot be sold. Following his passing in late 2025, the group continues to be managed under the leadership of Marina Meggle, maintaining its status as a family-rooted enterprise with headquarters in Germany.
