SodaStream is a historic brand synonymous with home carbonation systems. Originally invented in 1903 by Guy Hugh Gilbey in London, England, the brand was initially marketed to the upper classes and later gained massive household popularity in the UK during the 1970s and 1980s.

Starting in 1998, the brand underwent a significant transformation when it was acquired by the Israeli company Soda-Club. This shift moved the operational and manufacturing focus toward Israel, where the majority of its production remains today, specifically at the Idan HaNegev facility. However, to better serve the European market while reducing its carbon footprint, SodaStream opened a large-scale manufacturing and logistics center in Tilburg, Netherlands, in 2021. This facility handles the packaging of sparkling water makers and the production of CO2 cylinders for the European region.

In 2018, the global beverage giant PepsiCo acquired SodaStream for $3.2 billion. This acquisition has led to the integration of major PepsiCo flavors into the SodaStream system. As of 2026, SodaStream continues to operate as a key subsidiary of PepsiCo, maintaining its headquarters in Kfar Saba, Israel, while leveraging a global supply chain to reach millions of consumers worldwide.
