Consilia is a prominent Italian private label brand with a history dating back to 1950. It was founded by five pioneering entrepreneurs in the Italian modern distribution sector who sought to combine their expertise to offer high-quality products at accessible prices. These entrepreneurs represented regional retail chains including Italmark, Gros (Gruppo Romano Supermercati), Alfi (Gulliver), Cadoro, and Gruppo Gabrielli.

The brand is owned by the SUN (Supermercati Uniti Nazionali) Consortium, a strategic alliance of independent Italian retailers. Consilia operates as a 'brand of the distributor' (private label), but unlike many supermarket brands that share the name of the store, Consilia maintains its own distinct brand identity across the diverse network of its member supermarkets. In 2021, Consilia entered a new era through a strategic partnership with Selex Gruppo Commerciale, further expanding its assortment and distribution capabilities while remaining committed to its core values of quality, local tradition, and sustainability.

Manufacturing is primarily focused in Italy to support national producers and maintain traditional quality standards, although some sourcing occurs within the broader European market to ensure the best possible range and value for consumers.
