Aarke is a premium Swedish design and engineering company founded in 2013 by industrial designers Jonas Groth and Carl Ljungh. The brand's name, derived from the Southern Sami word for "everyday," reflects its mission to elevate mundane household routines into more refined and sustainable rituals. Headquartered in Stockholm, the company gained international acclaim with its flagship product, the Carbonator, which reimagined the sparkling water maker as a piece of high-end, timeless kitchen furniture using stainless steel and minimalist aesthetics.
While the brand maintains its creative hub and engineering headquarters in a historic former mineral water factory in Stockholm, the physical manufacturing of its products typically takes place in China. This global supply chain model allows the brand to scale its high-precision engineering while maintaining the sleek Scandinavian design standards for which it is known.
In November 2020, Altor Equity Partners, a leading Nordic private equity firm, acquired a significant majority stake in Aarke. This partnership was established to accelerate the brand’s global expansion and support its entry into new product categories, such as water purifiers, kettles, and coffee systems. Despite this investment, the original founders remain deeply involved in the design and strategic direction of the company.
