The brand was originally created by the Italian dairy giant Parmalat in the 1980s as part of its diversification into the bakery sector. Following the financial collapse of Parmalat, the brand was acquired in 2005 by the Vicenzi Group (Vicenzi S.p.A.), a historic family-owned Italian pastry company founded in 1905.

Today, Mr Day products are primarily manufactured in Italy at the Nusco plant in the province of Avellino, which Vicenzi acquired specifically for the production of these snacks. Under the ownership of the Vicenzi Group, Mr Day has been positioned as a playful, high-quality snack brand targeting younger generations while maintaining traditional Italian pastry standards. The brand remains entirely under Italian ownership and production, forming a core part of the Vicenzi portfolio alongside other iconic names like Grisbì and Matilde Vicenzi.
